Mother's Night Celebration

Between the 1st and 5th centuries CE, Mothers of all kinds were honored throughout Northwestern Europe around the time of the Winter Solstice on the holiday known as Mōdraniht. They had names such as “The Mother of Rivers,” “The Mother of Otters,” or “The Mother of Elm Trees.” About half of them have Celtic names, and the other half have Germanic names. During this evening celebration, you'll learn about these Divine Feminine figures, how they were once honored, and how you can connect and work with them in the 21st century. In this evening celebration, you'll spend some time connecting with a Mother Spirit or a goddess of home and hearth via meditation. You will also have the opportunity to ceremonially anoint a full-size taper candle for your Mother ally with nurturing oils and herbs in preparation for this year's Mōdraniht. Refreshments will be provided.

Participate in a Nurturing Ceremony

Anointing your candles can be a simple process, but it can also be a powerful experience. 

Whether you choose to honor a Feminine Spirit you already work with, such as a goddess or ancestor, or you choose to connect with a new one, you can utilize the herbs and oils available to prep your candle for the upcoming Mōdraniht holiday. 

You can also burn your candle any other time you wish to nurture your space, home, or connection to Her.

Suggestion: For the meditation portion, you may wish to bring your own items for comfort such as yoga mats, pillows, blankets, etc.
