Sound Healing Meditations and Shamanic Ceremonies
As a sound healing practitioner and practitioner of Shamanic healing arts in Cedar Rapids, IA, I often combine these two forces in my work. One particular way is to create communal spaces where folks can tune into their inner voices, check in with the self, tend to the body, release anything as needed, and integrate peaceful frequencies. Each ceremony has a different intention - sometimes they align with holidays or celestial events - sometimes they don't. Most of the time, I tune into what Spirit has to say, and/or what the collective needs when "outlining" a ceremony. Drum Circle Ceremony
Riding the energetic wave of the Summer Solstice, this fiery drumming circle ceremony is intended as a place to gather, ground, release, re-center, and receive.
During this ceremony, which has elements rooted in European and Germanic tradition, we will gather as a circle around the (indoor-friendly) fire and focus on themes often associated with the Summer Solstice: change, humor, liberation, growth through challenge, transformation, and breakthrough.
Together, we will participate in some movement (to embrace the heat of summer within the body), drumming, and peaceful rest. We will also indulge the senses with some sweet and spicy vegan-friendly dark chocolate.
People of all paths are welcome. No drumming circle experience required.
Suggested materials: Bring a drum, rattle, or shaker (if you have one), a water bottle, a journal, and a yoga mat to ensure your comfort during the ceremony. Chairs are available for those who prefer them.

Rune Pendant Workshop + Sound Ceremony
Are you interested in learning about the Germanic Runes but aren’t sure where to start? Join shamanic practitioner Laina Pilkenton for a mini workshop where you can begin to dip your toes into the world of the Runes.
Studying Runelore and working with the Runes is an ongoing (and can be a lifelong) process. In this workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the very basics of working with the Elder Futhark Runes. During a sound healing ceremony, you’ll have the chance to meditate and journey with your Rune of choice (or you can draw one from the pouch!) to learn more about what guidance it has for you at this time. To commemorate the experience and to nurture your connection to the Runes, you’ll also have the opportunity to make a (naturally shed) Runic deer antler pendant for yourself.
Suggested materials: Bring a journal, yoga mat, and comfort items to ensure your comfort during the ceremony. All crafting materials will be provided. Chairs are available during the meditation for those who prefer them.

Laina Pilkenton is a trained and experienced sound healing and energetic practitioner who has learned from multiple teachers over the years. Laina began her journey with Core Shamanism and aspects of Andean Shamanism, and has since focused on practicing Seiðr (Norse "Shamanism").
She maintains an individual practice where she offers a variety of services including shamanic healing, Runic divination, Reiki, sound healing, spiritual guidance, and more.
